The collection covers the history of two famous Yorkshire Regiments, both raised in 1685 by King James II. Displays of uniforms, badges, medals, silver, weapons, trophies, pictures and photographs illustrate the lives and service of both regiments over a period of 300 years. Objects related to the successor regiment, The Prince of Wales’s Own Regimeny of Yorkshire, continue the story from 1958 and the most recent, 2006, amalgamation into The Yorkshire Regiment is also covered. The archives of the West Yorkshire Regiment and East Yorkshire Regiment are held by the museum. They are not open to the public but enquiries and research can be undertaken by museum staff. The museum is located in the same building as that of the Royal Dragoon Guards. The website address for the recently formed Yorkshire Regiment is www.yorkshireregiment.mod.uk
