UNTOLD Stories of the Irish in the British Army

UNTOLD: Stories of the Irish in the British Army is a major new £13.6 million museum opening across two sites in Belfast and Enniskillen. Launching its first galleries in 2027, the museum will reveal 350 years of previously overlooked history, exploring the experiences of Irish soldiers and their families in the British Army. UNTOLD will consolidate collections from key regimental museums, including the Inniskillings Museum (Enniskillen), Royal Ulster Rifles Museum (Belfast), Royal Irish Fusiliers Museum (Armagh), and Royal Irish Regiment Museum, creating a single, immersive visitor experience.

Phase One will open in the restored 1867 linen warehouse at 28 Bedford Street, Belfast, with Phase Two redeveloping galleries at Enniskillen Castle. Supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project will offer exhibitions, educational resources, and an online platform, highlighting the all-island, all-community heritage of Irish military service and fostering understanding and connection across generations.
