Welcome to the Regimental museum of the Green Howards. 300 years of History, Heroism & Heritage.
Over 35,000 artefacts chronicling the lives of thousands of soldiers. We share their stories of service and sacrifice meet personal tales of daring and adventure.
The Green Howards Museum celebrates legacies of loyalty, discipline, courage, and camaraderie in war and in peace.
Visit our special exhibition for 2026 ‘Battle Bowlers and Football Boots’ which explores the sporting and military lives of Green Howard Footballers. Featuring golden boy Wilf Mannion, the popularity of women’s football, boredom busters in prisoner of war camps and the only professional footballer to win the Victoria Cross, Donald Simpson Bell. The exhibition marks the 110th anniversary of the action for which Donald was awarded the Victoria Cross and his death just 5 days later.
This exhibition has been made possible as a result of the Government Indemnity Scheme. The Green Howards Museum would like to thank HM Government for providing Government Indemnity and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Arts Council England for arranging the indemnity.
