About This Museum

The regimental museum of The Royal Dragoon Guards and The Yorkshire Regiment. One cavalry, one infantry; for over 300 years and on every continent; stories that are part of everyone’s history. York Army Museum houses the Regiment collections, and the stories of the men and women associated with them, we trace the history of the British Army from 1685 through to the modern day. Highlights of the museum include 5 Victoria Crosses, The Dettingen Standard (the oldest British cavalry standard in existence), a range of interactive and digital activities, and a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions. The museum was refurbished in 2015.
