Household Cavalry Museum
About This Museum
The Household Cavalry Museum collections represent over 350 years of military history and reflect the unique ceremonial and operational role of the Regiment. These collections are displayed in a new museum, opened in June 2007 by The Queen, at Horse Guards. The museum gallery provides an introduction to the dual role of today’s Household Cavalry regiments and traces their origins and historical development.
Visitors also have the opportunity to see into the working stables block of The Queen’s Life Guard and see behind the scenes of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment’s daily contribution to public duties and State ceremonial.
The archive, library, and education department forms part of a new collection resource facility that supports the Household Cavalry Museum in London. The regimental archive remains at Combermere Barracks, Windsor SL2 3DN (Tel: 01753 755112).
