Durham Light Infantry Museum
About This Museum
The Durham Light Infantry Collection includes uniforms, equipment, weapons, silver, photographs and battlefield relics covering the whole history of the Regiment from its formation in 1758 to the final laying-up of the Colours in 1968 in Durham Cathedral. Some key objects from the collection can be seen online including rare uniforms of the Durham Militia and Rifle Volunteers.
Objects from the DLI Collection are on display in a new exhibition, ‘Courage, Comrades & Community’ at Palace Green Library in Durham City. Visitors can visit the new Research and Study Centre in Spennymoor, or visit the new gallery at Palace Green Library. The medal collection is available to view at Palace Green Library by request and exhibitions regularly tour the county. Groups and children can learn about the DLI through the Learning & Outreach programme.
