About the museum

The Rifles Collection is the Regimental museum of The Rifles, established in 2013 and is in the same Victorian barracks building as the Royal Green Jacket’s Museum. The collection tells the story of The Rifles from their formation in 2007 until present day, for this and future generations. Packed with fascinating artefacts and plenty to enjoy, the museum is a wonderful day out for all the family. The Rifles have been involved in all major Operations conducted by The British Army to date and the collection contains artefacts relating to the formation and ethos of the Regiment, its links to antecedent and forming Regiments, as well as Battalion life and service in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Rifles Museum is one of a group of six Winchester military museums located together.  There is an on- site licensed café, Copper Joe’s, and the museums of The Kings Royal Hussars, Brigade of Gurkhas and The Adjutant Generals Corps and The Hampshire Regiment are nearby.

The Regimental library and archive are housed in the RHQ RIFLES building in the same Peninsula Barracks complex as the collection exhibition, which can be visited by appointment.
