About the Museum

The Honourable Artillery Company’s small private museum is open to members of the HAC. Bona fide researchers and families of past members may occasionally be able to visit by prior appointment with the Archivist.

The HAC has a museum reserve collection of uniforms, accoutrements and weapons. It also possesses a number of shooting medals reflecting the Company’s tradition of excellence in musketry dating from the late 18th century. The earliest medal groups in the HAC’s collection – all donated by members or their families – date from the South African War and include two VCs won by two members of the HAC’s 1st Battalion for their actions at Gavrelle, France, in April 1917.

The HAC Archives and its Reference Library contain Company and Regimental archives, private papers and books relating to the Company’s history and warfare from the 17th to the 21st Century. Please note that the Archives do not contain the formal army service records of HAC members, although some information on service and membership may be available.

Please see the HAC website www.hac.org.uk for more details on researching members of the HAC. Enquiries to the Archivist are answered by email and post; personal visits to view items in the HAC collections may be made by prior appointment in certain cases for bona fide researchers. There is no charge for research but a donation to the Archives Fund is appreciated. Please see the History and Archives pages of the HAC website for more information – www.hac.org.uk
