Located in the base of the Norman pele tower, the museum contains many mementoes and relics of the Westmorland and Cumberland Yeomanry as well as the two volunteer forces that preceded it – the Westmorland East and West Wards Local Militia and Cumberland Loyal Leath Ward Volunteers. The displays trace the Regiment’s history with particular reference to the Boer War and its role in the Great War as Divisional Cavalry with Kitchener’s Army in France.
Please note that the museum is open seasonally, from the end of March to the beginning of November.
