Making Collection Interpretation Relevant

December 4, 2017

Free

This thought-provoking day will examine what makes collection interpretation relevant and accessible to your current and potential audiences.

The morning session will look at the barriers audiences face when visiting military museums and identify practical ways to reduce these. It will also look at how more formal frameworks such as equalities legislation, the Accreditation standard and Arts Council England’s Creative Case shape best practice for accessible collection interpretation. In the afternoon session, attendees will undertake a practical audit of the displays at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and come away with the skills to appraise and improve the interpretation back at their own museum. This day is being led by experienced heritage consultant Sonia Rasbery (www.rasbery.co.uk). Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
