Archival Practice: Be the Best
15th January 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pmFree
Your archives hold the written and pictorial record of your regiment’s story. They provide the regimental brain, to be downloaded by present and future generations. Are you confident that they are appropriately stored, safely packaged, professionally catalogued, and accessible when required by staff and visitors to help tell your story in 5, 50 or 100 years’ time?
If you want to be the best, this workshop is for you, to help you meet the preservation and organisational requirements of your archives. The sessions are aimed at non-archivists who look after archives, and are intended to be practical and adaptable. The day-long workshop will be led by Heather Needham from Hampshire Archive and Local Studies service and Nicholas Coney from The National Archives. It will include sessions on legislation, documentation and cataloguing, preservation, digitisation and digital records, and audience engagement.
