On the A592 Penrith to Ullswater road

Located in the base of the Norman Pele-Tower the museum contains many mementoes and relics of the Westmorland & Cumberland Yeomanry as well as the two volunteer forces that preceded it – the Westmorland East and West Wards Local Militia and Cumberland Loyal Leath Ward Volunteers. The displays trace the Regiment’s history with particular reference to the Boer War and its Great War role as Divisional Cavalry with Kitchener’s Army in France. Access to the Yeomanry Collection is included in the entry fee for the House and Gardens.
