How to get there: Displays cover the history of the Regiment from 1741 through to its amalgamation with the Worcestershire Regiment in 1970 to form The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment, to the amalgamation with the Cheshire and Staffordshire Regiments to form the Mercian Regiment. Objects on display include many of the Regiment’s Colours, uniforms, headdress, badges, medals. Within the Gallery is a touch screen with details of many Sherwood Foresters (some with photographs)from 1741 to 1970. The Archives (with a database of over 100 thousand soldiers) are held separately at Foresters House, Chetwynd Barracks, Chilwell and are accessible by appointment only on Tel: 0115.9465415. Written and telephone enquiries are welcomed and enquiries can also be submitted from our website. There is also a display in Derby City Museum and Art Gallery shared with the 9th/12th Royal Lancers and the Derbyshire Yeomanry. The Museum offers an educational outreach programme to both Primary and Secondary schools, Higher Education Faculties and Community Groups.
