This comprehensive Collection covers the history of the Regiment from its foundation in the late seventeenth century, with emphasis on both Horse and Tank warfare. Key events in the Regiment’s history, from the early Battles of Dettingen and Waterloo onwards, are vividly recreated through the personal stories of individuals and a mixture of artefacts, equipment, documentation and weapons. New displays employ computer technology to illustrate the change-over from horses to tanks, the Regiment’s decisive role at the Battle of El Alamein in WW2 and its global peace-keeping role to the present. Interactive displays include a state-of-the-art reconstruction of an Afrika Korps Observation Post and events at El Alamein. There artefacts and uniforms for handling and dressing up as well as more educational material in family packs for children and adults. The Regimental archives of the 3rd and the 7th Hussars are held on site and may be viewed by appointment. The admission charge of £4.90 also includes entry to the Hospital. Entry to the museum alone costs £2.50. Ex-Regimental members can visit free of charge.
