Honourable Artillery Company
|
How to get there: The Honourable Artillery Company’s private museum is now open to members of the HAC. Members of the general public may visit by appointment only. The HAC has an extensive museum reserve collection of uniforms, accoutrements and weapons. It also possesses a number of shooting medals reflecting the Company's tradition of excellence in musketry dating from the late 18th century. The earliest medal sets – all donated by members and their families – date from the South African War and include two VCs won by two members of the HAC's 1st Battalion for their actions at Gavrelle, France in April 1917. The HAC Archives and its Reference Library contain Company and Regimental archives, private papers and books relating to the Company’s history and warfare from the 17th to the 21st Century. Please note that the Archives do not contain the formal army service records of HAC members, although some information on service and membership may be available. Enquiries to the Archivist are answered by email and post; personal visits to view items in the HAC collections may be made by appointment in certain cases. There is no charge for research but a donation to the Archives Fund is appreciated. Please see the History and Archives pages of the HAC website for more information - www.hac.org.uk
