SSW of town just off A1016, or buses 152,154,350,351, 42 and 44 from town centre and railway station.

Traces the history of the Regiment from 1741 to the present day. Uniforms, trophies - includes the Salamanca Eagle captured from the French 62nd Regiment -, badges, insignia, weapons and regimental memorabilia reflect the worldwide service of the Essex Regiment in the service of the Crown. Access to a comprehensive Family History database is available by appointment, letter or email for a which a donation to The Trustees of the Essex Regiment Museum is appreciated. The museum also houses the collection of the Essex Yeomanry whose history and other details are available from their website www.essex- yeomanry.org.uk

Royal Anglian Regt, 3rd East Anglian Regt, Essex Regt, 44th (or the East Essex) Regt of Foot, 44th Regt of Foot, Colonel Long’s Regt of Foot, 56th (or the West Essex) Regt of Foot, 56th Regt of Foot, Essex Militia, Rifles, Rifle Volunteer and Volunteer units, Essex Yeomanry Cavalry, Essex Artillery Volunteers, Essex and Suffolk Royal Garrison Artillery, Essex(Fortress) Royal Engineers, Essex Local Defence Volunteers, Essex Home Guard. Displays are closed for redevelopment until November 2009. Research services remain unaffected during display closure.
