How to get there:
By train to Newport, Abergavenny and Merthyr Tydfil. There is a regular bus service from Abergavenny or Merthyr to Brecon. The museum is located on B4601 (known as the Watton), a short walk from the town centre and bus station.

The regimental collections of the South Wales Borderers, the Welsh/Welch Regiment and the Monmouthshire Regiment are the focus of well- presented displays in this fine regimental museum. A diorama depicting the heroic defence of Rorke's Drift forms the centrepiece of our Zulu War room. The Medal Room contains nearly 3,500 medals and the sixteen Victoria Crosses awarded to members of the regiment. The regimental archives and library are accessible by appointment with the Curator. Nearby is the Regimental Chapel in Brecon Cathedral which contains the famous Queen's Colour 1/24th saved by Lts. Melvill and Coghill after the disaster at Isandlwana in Zululand in 1879.

We commemorate The Royal Welsh, The Royal Regiment of Wales (24th/41st Foot), the South Wales Borderers, 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot and Brecknockshire, Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire Milita and those of Pembrokeshire and Glamorganshire Yeomanries during WW1.

Opening Hours:
Mon-Fri 10am-5pm throughout the year. Summer opening from Easter: Sat & Bank Hols 10am-4pm; see website for Sunday opening.
