How to get there: A comprehensive and well displayed collection covering the history of the County Regiments of Somerset from 1685 and an explanation of how the former Yeomanry Regiments of Somerset combined with the Somerset Light Infantry Territorials to form an important element of today's Regiment, The Rifles. The coverage of The Somerset Light Infantry including the First Afghan war including the Siege of Jellalabad and an extensive medal gallery are of particular note. The Regimental archive of The Somerset Light Infantry and The North Somerset Yeomanry is held at the County Record Office but some archive material is held at The Rifles Office, 14 Mount Street, Taunton (Tel: 01823 333434).
